Paula Majerowicz Presents Web Design Best Practices to National Restaurant Association (NRA)

eCore's President was a featured presenter at NRA's iMIS User Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. In a lively exchange with attendees, User Experience was defined, web design best practices were featured and an extensive discussion was held pertaining to Responsive Design. With the wide variety of devices delivering web content (e.g., desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones), designing for a successful user experience is becoming more complex. Understanding this complexity and the various means to address it was the highlight of the presentation.

eCore Spins Off eLearning Division - eCoreLearning

Learning has always played a large role for eCore. At its inception, the company principles brought to eCore over 20 years' experience working in the learning marketplace for such organizations as IBM, AT&T and Vanstar. eCore has continued with this core strength by providing its clients with learning support from LMS and authoring tool package selection to course development. eCore learning clients include L'Oreal, the National Education Association, the Archdiocese of New York, the Associated General Contractors of America, and Columbia University Teachers College.

Building upon this depth of experience and with a clear vision of the growth in online learning as it continues to expand, eCore has established a separate division focused specifically on online learning: eCoreLearning. With this new division, eCore plans to extend its learning-based client offerings and serve as a source of support to its clients as they navigate the ever growing eLearning landscape.

New Online Train-the-Trainer Course for NEA

The National Education Association (NEA), one of the country's largest member-based associations, has just launched a new eLearning course developed by eCoreXperience in Adobe Captivate. Our long standing, successful association with NEA and our history in Instructional Design and online course development made eCore the perfect partner for this development.

The new course, Taxation, Economic Development and Funding for Public Schools (TEF): Lessons for Members and Citizens, consists of 8 separate lessons that can be taken sequentially or as standalone lessons. TEF's basic premise is that adequate funding of public education through an equitable system of taxation and a level economic development playing field for business is the best way to create and maintain a civilized, prosperous society. This Train-the-Trainer course provides guidance on how to conduct a 2 day workshop utilizing NEA developed workshop materials. The course includes:

  • Videos of previous workshops
  • Text and graphics with audio overlays
  • Automated graphics
  • Quizzes
  • Lesson-level Assessments
  • Access to Course Materials and Supporting Documentation such as Audio/Video Transcripts

eCoreXperience also developed a customizable template that can be used across NEA eLearning courses to provide a consistent NEA online course brand.

Quality Billing Service, Inc. Site Launches

With offices in Westchester and Dutchess Counties, Quality Billing Service, Inc. (QBS) has served the medical community since 1987. In order to continue company growth, QBS decided that the time had come to have a website to promote the high quality services they provide to their clients.

Working closely with QBS, the eCore team developed a site that is both informational and visually engaging. In addition, the site was developed using an OpenSource Content Management System (CMS), MovableType, to enable easy site updates by QBS.

eLearning: Buy or Build Courses?

That's the question the National Education Association (NEA) needed to answer. Through a series of interviews and meetings with key NEA stakeholders, the eCore team developed a process flow to help NEA create a structured path to this business critical decision. The process developed featured key decision points along the decision making process such as:

  • Is there a proven need for training on a specific topic?
  • Is there a team available, including Subject Matter Experts, to see the topic process through to completion?
  • Is there a budget available?
  • Are there in house materials available that can be utilized as is or customized for true eLearning courses?
  • What is the comparative Total Cost of Ownership for course purchase vs. course build?e

Once the entire process from topic proposal to buy vs. build decision was developed, a Flash eLearning tool was created for internal distribution to train key NEA team members on the new process.

AAPA Launches Redesigned Website

The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) needed eCore's help. Their website had become unwieldy making it difficult for their members to easily locate needed content; their existing Content Management System (CMS) was not providing the flexibility and ease of use required for the volume of content and the number of content authors/editors to easily manage; the design needed a refresh; and content needed to be re-written to make it more web-friendly.

To address these issues, the eCore team:

  • Conducted a CMS product selection phase which led to the selection of Ektron CMS4000
  • Developed a new Information Architecture that focused on how users would access content
  • Augmented the existing visual design for consistency and better user engagement
  • Implemented the Ektron CMS including tiered access to content based upon login
  • Implemented a Single Signon integrating with AAPA's instance of iMIS Association Management System
  • Worked with AAPA content teams to clean out duplicate or dated content
  • Edited all content to be available upon site launch and entered content into the CMS
