FindYouthInfo.Gov Gets an Updated Look

eCoreXperience, Inc. announces the release of the redesigned FindYouthInfo website. This federal interagency sponsored website focuses on youth programs.

For this project we created a new visual design for the site including a homepage "carousel" that allows FindYouth to feature key programs in a visually engaging manner. This visual update resulted in a look that reflects both the program's mission and the site user constituency. In addition, we developed accessible code designed to meet strict Section 508 compliance standards. Visit this great site at www.findyouthinfo.gov.

American Institutes for Research Launches New Site

The American Institutes for Research (AIR), a non-profit, non-partisan organization with headquarter offices in Washington, DC, is one of the world's largest behavioral and social science research organizations. AIR looked to eCoreXperience to develop a companion site for the Center for Response to Intervention (RTI) to provide educators, legislators, parents of students and interested members of the public with the ability to look up state-based initiatives regarding RTI.

Developed using the OpenSource Joomla 1.5 tool, eCoreXperience created the online RTI State Database resource to provide users with the ability to search for and access state-developed resources including briefs, fact sheets, and presentations. A user interface was developed that reflected the brand of the parent organization while still maintaining a unique personality. An easy-to-use backend administrative functionality was also developed to allow AIR staff-members to make updates to the site in a timely, efficient manner. Finally, stringent 508 compliant code was incorporated in order to meet the standards requested by AIR. The resulting site has a fresh look and feel that is related to the RTI site but with its own, engaging character, tailored to the audience the site serves and its search-based functionality.

Trinity Church of Fishkill Site Launches

Founded in 1756, the historic Trinity Episcopal Church of Fishkill, New York hired eCoreXperience to both redesign its website and to implement an easy-to-use Content Management System. From the beginning, it was clear that the key focus for the redesigned site should not be on the beautiful and historic building but on the people who make up the parish. It is the people that provide the soul and purpose of the church.

From both a visual and structural perspective, the redesigned site reflects that need (the focus on people), through imagery, intuitive navigation and an emphasis on the activities that define the Church and its parishioners. Trinity is also able to easily maintain the site via the cost effective Content Management System implemented, ExpressionEngine. Be sure to visit the site at: www.trinityfishkill.org.

Paula Majerowicz, eCoreXperience President, Serves as ThinkQuest Judge

For the fourth year in a row, Paula Majerowicz, eCoreXperience President, was asked to provide her expertise in judging and evaluating student submissions for the 2008 ThinkQuest Challenge - New York City. The mission for this challenge is as follows:

The ThinkQuest NYC Challenge is a contest for students to create educational websites. The TQNYC project-based, collaborative learning experience addresses 21st century learning by providing an opportunity for students to develop higher order thinking skills, problem solving in a real world context, and student as knowledge producer. In addition to developing advanced technology skills, ThinkQuest NYC participants gain content knowledge in specific academic areas, interpersonal and teamwork skills, and a sense of connection with the world beyond their own communities. ThinkQuest NYC

As a judge/evaluator in this Challenge, Ms. Majerowicz had to call upon not only her experience in website design but also her education/training background in order to carefully examine 15 diverse sites developed by teams of NYC students in grades ranging from 6th to 12th grade. "It was wonderful to see how creative the teams were—both in the content they developed and in the way that content was delivered. Based on the sites I evaluated, the next generation of web designers and developers will only take our industry further"
